People often ask why someone can't just enjoy media instead of analyzing it. However, analyzing media is a part of how I enjoy it. I like to think. As a result, I have a lot of opinions regarding fictional stories. Furthermore, I am firmly of the belief that no fiction exists in a vacuum outside of the society that produced it. Thus, social issues are a major consideration in my analysis of fiction.

My favorite genres are forms of speculative fiction. Whether it be wizards fighting with arcane powers, alien planets with strange ecosystems, or houses haunted with ghosts of centuries past, I very much enjoy characters, stories, and settings not of this mundane world. At the same time, I am interested in what the products of vivid imaginations say about the people imagining them.

I am also a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, specifically the B and the T. How a story represents members of the community (by the way the absence of queer and trans characters in a fictional work is just as political as their inclusion) and how it deals with gender is of particular interest to me.

Anyway, enjoy my blog.
